I successfully installed DataLock on 3 laptops but the 4th one refused to install and gave me the following error message:
"Desktop computers need PS/2 mouse connected
Connect PS/2 mouse"
This of course doesn't make any sense for several reasons:
1) The machine is a laptop not a desktop.
2) I successfully installed DataLock on 3 other laptops that don't have a PS/2 mouse.
3) Why is Zonealarm marketing DataLock for laptops if it doesn't work 100%?

I had two very frustrating chat sessions with totally incompetent ZA tech support. The only support they offered was that I should buy a PS/2 adapter which is obviously totally ridiculous considering that ZA's product simply has a severe bug.

Any recommendations?

On scanning (I'd had Heuristics on), ZA decided I had malware on my system - OK, so I told it to handle it; It then (without my having any say in the matter) deleted mirc.exe as "possible malware" (fixed that), and also decided that avgcorex.dll (part of AVG) was malware (HEUR.Virus.Win32.Generic) and removed it - thus disabling my (previously working) Anti-Virus.

So, a suggestion, turn Heuristics OFF if you are running ZoneAlarm as just the firewall, and AVG for your Anti-Virus, lest you have to fix it LOL

(I wish I could reach the ZA developers and suggest that they not delete AVG's internal DLLs without seeing if AVG is your active antivirus, but, sigh.) Facebook, Gmail, Yahoo and Hotmail users should beware of rogue rebate offers and new secure payment options aimed at getting them to part with their debit card information.

Earlier this week Amit Klein, CTO of Trusteer, announced the discovery of a peer-to-peer variant of the Zeus platform that leverages trusted relationships and well-known brands to convince users to sign up for convenient services and better secure debit card transactions. On each site, the attack displays a little differently.

"In the first attack against Facebook, the malware uses a web inject to present the victim with a fraudulent 20% cash back offer by linking their Visa or MasterCard debit card to their Facebook account," Klein wrote in a blog post. "The scam claims that after registering their card information, the victim will earn cash back when they purchase Facebook points. The fake web form prompts the victim to enter their debit card number, expiration date, security code and PIN"

Like Those Wikipedia Ads? They Mean You're Infected With Malware!


The Wikimedia Foundation is warning its millions of visitors that if they're seeing ads appearing on any of the Foundation's Web sites, then their computer is probably infected with malware.

The Foundation issued a statement on Monday clarifying that it never runs ads on the Web site for Wikipedia, the massive, crowd-sourced encyclopedia. Visitors who are seeing ads for for-profit firms have likely been the victim of a Web based attack, including malicious browser plug-ins, the statement reads.

A variety of malicious browser extensions for Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer are responsible for the ads, Wikimedia Foundation Director of Community Advocacy Philippe Beaudette explained. Alternatively, users may be accessing the Web by way of a free Internet connection that injects the ads into the Web pages the viewer loads. "But rest assured: you won't be seeing legitimate advertisements on Wikipedia."
